Myclimate and Grown are selling a limited Grown ski model for the 10th anniversary of myclimate. The profit of the lottery goes
to a climate protection project in India. The lottery
of myclimate will commence now at the ITB Berlin, the biggest tourism fair in the world:
come by and bid for a special Grown edition model – now from March 6th-10th in Berlin.

The first environmental and social life cycle
analysis (LCA) of skis has just been published in the leading scientific magazine ‚Journal of Industrial Ecology’. The authors of the study, Grown
founders Dr. Jan Reger und Prof. Dr. Tobias Luthe, together with Thomas Kägi
from Carbotech Switzerland, developed a new systems approach to sustainable
technical product design, applicable to any kind of product. The analysis shows
that Grown skis are by far the most environmentally friendly skis on the
market, with an environmental footprint being at least 30% lower than that of comparable high quality skis produced and distributed as well in Europe.

The Grown friends team has just visited
Hokkaido, Japan, to ski the sickest powder in broadleaf  trees one can imagine. 4m of solid snow

Grown friend Su Moldau designed and manages a
new Grown ski test station high up in the mountain hotel/hut Zur Schönen
Aussicht on the Schnalstal glacier, South Tyrol, Italy. Visit the hotel for some relaxing days – after some runs on a Grown ski you can soak in an outdoor hot tub.

Grown on ISPO 2013 – Hall A2 Booth 105

Dear skiers,

Grown is now presenting the new skis for the next season on ISPO in Munich, 3.-6.02.2013.

Our booth is in Hall A2 Booth 105, together with the 7Sky Greenroomvoice brands. In the Greenroomvoice sustainability rating, Grown received the highest marks for the environmental and social sustainability of our skis.

Grown – SKIS FOR THOSE THINKING AHEAD

Hello skiers out there,

the last days of skiing were only four months ago, and already today we see the first substantial snow dancing in the air, all the way down to the valley floors.

Soon it will be cold enough to build the snow base we love to go out and ski some lines.

For this new coming season 2012/13 we re-designed our skis – they now have a more powerful harder flex, are about 150 grams lighter then last season, feature an allmountain tip rocker, and keep their high torsion.

We developed new triaxial basalt fibres, unique in the ski business, and now use super tough robinia wood for the side walls.

The model OutGrown in three lengths from 170cm to 190cm and dimensions under foot from 96 and 104mm truly is an all mountain high performance tool that lasts long.

Grown skis have been tested tough and skied by professional guides and scientists in the Arctic of Svalbard, in temperatures below -30°C, splashed with icy salt water on traversing frozen fjords. High tech eco skis built tough!

Grown skis are the most eco friendly skis on the market, pioneering sustainable ski design: we are the first publishing a complete environmental and social life cycle analysis of a ski in the scientific Journal of Industrial Ecology, and communicating the carbon footprint of the skis as a comparable figure: 9.88g CO2eq/ccm.

…Ski equipment is also helping to lead a sustainable revolution, myclimate, the Swiss non-profit foundation that set up the Climate Protection Partnership, helped the eco-entrepreneurial ski company, Grown Skis to develop and produce the first climate neutral skis to hit the market. These skis use local sustainable products and are produced locally in the Alps ensuring the carbon footprint is 40% lower than other comparable high quality skis. The remainder of the carbon footprint is offset with myclimate, Gold Standard, climate protection projects.

These initiatives have set the bar for future Olympic Games, other large-scale global events and the ski industry in general, demonstrating that it is possible to be carbon conscious and still run a successful business.
