Grown @ ITB Berlin with myclimate — first LCA of
skis published — Grown friends in Hokkaido, Japan — new Grown test station on a mountain hut in South Tyrol
Dear Skier,
Isn’t March the best month to ski? Powder high up, spring
corn on south facing slopes, long bright days for ski touring, and a beer in a
cafe outside après ski….
Grown skis are perfect for skiing allmountain – wide for
powder, high torsion for edge hold on piste, light enough for touring, and of
special beauty to show off in the cafe 😉
We hope that you get to enjoy a Grown ski as soon as
possible. You can order Grown skis online or check with one of our dealers.
This month’s news:
–
Myclimate and Grown are selling a limited Grown ski model for the 10th anniversary of myclimate. The profit of the lottery goes
to a climate protection project in India. The lottery
of myclimate will commence now at the ITB Berlin, the biggest tourism fair in the world:
come by and bid for a special Grown edition model – now from March 6th-10th in Berlin.

The first environmental and social life cycle
analysis (LCA) of skis has just been published in the leading scientific magazine ‚Journal of Industrial Ecology’. The authors of the study, Grown
founders Dr. Jan Reger und Prof. Dr. Tobias Luthe, together with Thomas Kägi
from Carbotech Switzerland, developed a new systems approach to sustainable
technical product design, applicable to any kind of product. The analysis shows
that Grown skis are by far the most environmentally friendly skis on the
market, with an environmental footprint being at least 30% lower than that of comparable high quality skis produced and distributed as well in Europe.

The Grown friends team has just visited
Hokkaido, Japan, to ski the sickest powder in broadleaf trees one can imagine. 4m of solid snow
cover at just 200m above sea level. See some pics of this amazing Grown adventure on the Grown Facebook page.
–
Grown friend Su Moldau designed and manages a
new Grown ski test station high up in the mountain hotel/hut Zur Schönen
Aussicht on the Schnalstal glacier, South Tyrol, Italy. Visit the hotel for some relaxing days – after some runs on a Grown ski you can soak in an outdoor hot tub.
Enjoy skiing with a ski for those thinking ahead!
